Dan Micciche's squad will take on Spain at Leek Town on 17 February

England Under-16s will host Spain at Leek Town this week as preparation for next year’s UEFA European U17 Championship on home soil begins.

The 2018 chapter of the prestigious, 16-team tournament will be based out of St. George’s Park, with fixtures to be played in stadiums across the midlands.

England U16s v Spain U16s
  • UEFA Development Tournament
  • 7pm, Friday 17 February 2017
  • Harrison Park, Leek Town FC
  • £3 Adults and £1.50 Concessions

It will be the first time England has played host to the U17 competition and the Three Lions will be looking to add to the two titles they claimed in 2010 and 2014 in what will be a historical occasion next year.

Many of head coach Dan Micciche’s current crop of U16s will be hoping to be a part of those finals next season, and follow the lead of England captain Wayne Rooney who introduced himself to the international stage by claiming the Golden Player Award during the inaugural tournament in Denmark in 2002.

U16 internationals are usually played behind-closed-doors, but the Young Lions will get the chance to warm-up for next year's big stage in front of their fans when Leek Town’s Harrison Park hosts the game with Spain’s U16s on Friday 17 February (7pm kick-off) as part of a UEFA Development Tournament.
