Three Lions set for Malta

England train for final time before heading to Ta'Qali as Kieran Tripper withdraws

Thursday 31 Aug 2017

The Three Lions trained for the final time at St. George’s Park before setting off for Malta on Thursday morning.

Gareth Southgate’s squad have been at work all week as they build up to Friday’s World Cup qualifier in Ta’Qali before returning for the clash with Slovakia at Wembley on Monday evening.

The only player who didn’t feature in the session was Kieran Trippier, who has left the camp and returned to Tottenham Hotspur.

The right-back hasn’t trained all week at St. George’s Park as he continued rehabilitation on an injury sustained playing for Spurs.

With the England squad departing for Malta on Thursday afternoon, it was felt it was in the player’s best interests to return to his club.

No replacements are planned at this moment in time and Gareth Southgate will travel with a 26-man Three Lions group ahead of the World Cup qualifier.

Tickets for Monday’s game at Wembley are still on sale, priced from £20 for adults and £10 for concessions. Click here to purchase tickets.
