The Buildbase Club Renovation Programme saw non-League clubs pitch their plans for a product bursary

Buildbase FA Vase Finalists Cleethorpes Town will be hoping to complete a unique double this season after they were selected, along with Hanwell Town, as winners of the 2017 Buildbase Club Renovation Programme.

The Lincolnshire-based club, who will play South Shields on Non-League Finals Day next month, will share the £100,000 product bursary with west London outfit Hanwell Town following a Dragons Den-style pitching event for six finalists held at Wembley.

Non-League Finals Day
  • The Buildbase FA Vase and Buildbase FA Trophy Finals
  • Sunday 21 May 2017
  • 12.15pm: Cleethorpes Town v South Shields
  • 4.15pm: Macclesfield Town v South Shields
  • Wembley Stadium connected by EE

They will now receive building, electrical and hire products which will be provided by local Buildbase branches working with the clubs to improve their facilities.

A judging panel from Buildbase and The FA selected Cleethorpes Town because the bursary will allow the club to return to its home ground from a temporary facility and enhance the facilities for the players and the local community.

And the panel chose Hanwell Town’s proposal because it was well-thought through, costed and would be positive for both club and the local community.

“Awarding the product bursary to two clubs this year is the culmination of Buildbase’s promise to help non-League football clubs revive their facilities,” said Paul Roche, Commercial Director at Buildbase.

“The pitches from all six shortlisted clubs were of a really high standard and it was genuinely difficult to decide on the two winners, both of which have plans that offer the right mix of football and community benefit.”

FA Commercial Director Mark Bullingham added: “For a football club at any level, good facilities are key to creating a positive environment and a thriving culture.

“Thanks to our partnership with Buildbase, two non-League clubs have a wonderful opportunity to create a lasting legacy for their players and staff.

The Buildbase Club Renovation Programme will run again in 2018, with a further £100,000 for two clubs.

This year’s Non-League Finals Day sees Macclesfield Town take on York City in the Buildbase FA Trophy Final, with the aforementioned Vase Final between Cleethorpes Town and South Shields.

Tickets for the day are on sale now, priced at £25 for adults, £10 for concessions and £1 for children whilst there is also a special group rate which reduces prices to £12.50 for adults and £5 for concessions. Click here for more details and to purchase tickets.
