Liverpool boss Scott Rogers knows his side face a real challenge to seal their spot in the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final as they prepare to face Manchester City.

But rather than lament their trip to the Academy Stadium on Monday, he wants them to take inspiration for last season’s performances against the Sky Blues.

The Reds were unbeaten against Nick Cushing’s team in the WSL and they now need to go one better if they’re to seal a first-ever trip to Wembley in The Cup.

"Ideally we wanted a home draw but the beauty of this group is we can beat anyone on our day,” said Rogers, whose side beat Notts County in the quarter finals last month.

"We drew with City twice last season, home and away, so we can do it if we play well enough.”

Rogers, who was previously assistant boss to former manager Matt Beard, puts Liverpool’s impressive home form down to their intricate knowledge and ability on their own patch.

But with the facilities on offer at the impressive Academy Stadium set to act as something of a semi-final leveller, Rogers and his players have been making their plans on how to spring a surprise.

"Playing at the Select Security Stadium benefits us because we know how to play on this pitch and maybe others don't like it as much,” he revealed.

"But we'll respect them, research and plan and if we get it right then we're in the Final.

"If you start looking at the final now you mess the semi-final up. You can go and watch the Final still but I don't want to do that!"
