Civana Kuhlmann double downs Women's U17s in California

John Griffiths's side face three tough matches in California

Civana Kuhlmann scored both goals as USA defeated England Women’s Under-17s 2-0 in the first of three testing friendlies the Young Lionesses will play in California.

The hosts missed a penalty early on, and John Griffiths’s side were on level terms for the majority of the game, but Kuhlmann struck twice in the last 10 minutes to break England’s resistance.

England will take on Japan on Saturday night (at 11pm GMT), followed by South Korea on Monday night (8pm GMT).

This tournament is being used as preparation for England’s Euro qualifying campaign next month.

They will travel to Serbia for games against Belgium, Iceland and the hosts.
