England manager Gareth Southgate has hailed The FA's decision to offer Steve Holland a full-time role with the organisation.
The Chelsea coach has worked with Southgate on a part-time basis since 2013, firstly with the Under-21s and then in interim charge of the senior side this autumn.
The FA announced on Wednesday evening that Holland will assist Southgate for March's games against Germany and Lithuania, before a permanent move at the end of the Premier League season.
"To be able to bring Steve in as assistant manager is a crucial appointment for me," Southgate told FATV.
"Steve is somebody I worked with for the U21s for the last three years, through those two successful qualifying campaign and the success in Toulon.
"He’s a coach that has won every trophy there is to win at club level and I couldn’t be bringing in somebody with more experience.
"He’s worked with five or six of the top managers in the world in his time at Chelsea and we’ve developed a way of working where our personalities and strengths complement each other really well."
