“This season’s competition has gone from strength-to-strength, with many clubs reporting record Cup attendances and hugely exciting games and performances in every round. We are confident that this year’s Final will be a fitting end to an incredible season for The FA WSL.

"The competition so far has been incredibly exciting and will only get better as we get closer to The Final. There are 12,000 seats at the stadium and it would be fantastic to see those filled by fans that supported the Lionesses so passionately whilst they were in Canada."

Tony Stewart, Rotherham United chairman, added: “Rotherham United are delighted to have been selected to host such a prestigious game in the football calendar.

“The Final is a showpiece event in The FA Women’s Super League calendar, and we know from previous experience of hosting women’s football that there is great interest in the game amongst the people of Rotherham and surrounding areas.

“Following the recent history of international fixtures at AESSEAL New York Stadium, we continue to grow our reputation of having a proven track record of hosting such high-profile matches. We look forward to hosting the Finalists as we keep a close eye on the latter stages of the tournament with the quarter finals set to take place this weekend.”

The FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup enters the quarter-final stage this weekend, with all four ties being played on Sunday (2pm KO). There is a repeat of last season’s Final in the last eight when three-time winners Arsenal host holders Manchester City at Boreham Wood.

Reading are the only FA WSL 2 side to have made the quarter finals and they will travel to Notts County hoping to progress. Birmingham City take on Chelsea at Solihull Moors, while Liverpool play Bristol Academy away at Stoke Gifford Stadium.
