Saturday 05 Sep 2015
The FA Vase Road to Wembley is under way

Three goals in five minutes early in the second half saw Sileby avoid a potential banana skin in The FA Vase first round qualifying as they beat Thrapston 3-1 at Chancery Lane.

Thrapston were well on top in the first half and took a deserved lead after 37 minutes when Dan Bucciero scored from the spot after Bradley Pettitt was adjudged to have handled a Jedd Whiteman shot.

Troy Johnston levelled in the 50th minute, converting Joe Merrill's delivery from the right.

Within a minute the visitors were in front, Johnston collecting Stuart Macmichael's ball in behind the defence and deftly chipping keeper Dom Roggero.

Brian Farrell sealed Sileby's passage to the next round after 55 minutes, controlling with his first touch and slotting past Roggero with his second.

Meanwhile, Garforth Town marched through to the next round of the competition as they hammered Albion Sports 4-1. Danny Harris opened the scoring after 23 minutes and Ash Preece made it 2-0 just five minutes later.

And Garforth were effectively out of sight on 36 minutes as Mark Simpson made it 3-0, while Asif Hussain pulled a goal back for Albion Sports on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot.

It was 4-1 on 47 minutes as Luke Mangham converted coolly from the penalty spot but despite their pressure they were unable to add further to their score.

Vauxhall Motors trounced Glasshoughton Welfare 5-0 - Jordon Brierley, Jamie Matthews (two) and a double from Jon Atkinson sealed their progression.

Brigg Town left it too late to battle back against Westella VIP and eventually lost a thriller 4-3, Halstead Town defeated Haverhill Rangers 1-0 and Norton beat Pickering 2-1.

Elsewhere, on Friday night Roman Glass St George draw 2-2 with Calne Town and Baldock Town edged out St Marg 3-2 in a thriller.
