There was another FA event taking place at Deepdale on Thursday

There were wins for The FA at both professional and grassroots level at Deepdale, the home of Preston North End FC on Thursday evening.

Whilst Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s team beat the USA by 1-0, behind the scenes The FA delivered a funding and development workshop to grassroots Asian clubs.

Talking to clubs from areas such as Preston, Blackburn, Batley and Bradford The FA worked together with sports inclusion charity Sporting Equals, football's inclusion campaign Kick It Out and Lancashire County FA  to outline opportunities open to those in the grassroots game.

Following on from a Talent ID workshop in Leicester and two large Talent ID competitions in Birmingham and Luton in October, this work forms part of The FA’s three-year plan to increase Asian Inclusion, ‘Bringing Opportunities to Communities’.

Kevin Coleman, from The FA's Equality Team, said: "It’s very important to speak to grassroots clubs face-to-face about ways in which they can become part of The FA’s strategy.

"Greg Dyke’s Chairman’s Commission focuses on more grassroots coaches and facilities being the foundation of our national teams and making sure diverse communities are part of that movement is vital."
