Cameron Humphreys has replaced Fulham's Tayo Edun in the England squad for the FIFA Under-17s World Cup.

The Manchester City defender will join up with Neil Dewsnip's Young Lions after Edun's withdrawal through injury.

"It's a big blow to Tayo and we all feel for him," said head coach Dewsnip.

"Unfortunately he has a problem with his groin that will rule him out of the tournament. It's hugely disappointing for everyone involved and we all wish him a speedy and full recovery."

Humphreys, who featured for City's first-team during the club's pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, has now been called up from the standby list and will travel to South America on Friday.

"It's a massive opportunity for Cameron,” added Dewsnip.

"We'll be working hard to get him fully settled in as quickly as possible.”

England begin their World Cup campaign against Guinea on Saturday at 8pm live on Eurosport 2.
