Head injury clarification following FA Vase Final

Friday 08 May 2015
Glossop North End lost 2-1 after extra time
Glossop North End captain Dave Young was involved in a collision in the 105th minute of Saturday's FA Vase Final against North Shields, resulting in a head injury.

Young was unconscious for over a minute and, on regaining consciousness, was treated on the side of the pitch by the Glossop North End club physio with members of the Wembley medical staff team present.

The player rejoined the field of play, however the Wembley medical staff team informed the match officials that Young required further assessment and, due to him losing consciousness, was told he was unable to continue.

This was following a football-wide agreed protocol introduced at the beginning of this season which states referees must act on advice from medical staff on matters relating to head injuries.
