Schoolchildren from Brent gave the stars of the women’s game a grilling on Wednesday as they visited Wembley Stadium’s media facilities.

England internationals and SSE Women’s FA Cup finalists Amy Turner and Claire Rafferty – who play for Notts County and Chelsea respectively – were among the stars who answered questions from kids from eight different schools.

Rafferty’s club team-mates Gemma Davison and Hannah Blundell, FA director Kelly Simmons, plus England and Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs, also fielded queries from the 180 budding young reporters.

Centre-half Turner, whose Notts County side take on Chelsea under the arch on Saturday 1 August, said: “It was great to see so many young girls and boys excited about the Cup Final – they are really looking forward to coming to Wembley for the first time, as are Notts County Ladies”

Lionesses World Cup left-back Rafferty added: “We had some really challenging questions from the kids – I hope the media don’t give us such a tough time!”

Following the press conference, the children had an opportunity to get autograph cards signed, selfies and pictures with the trophy.

Izabella Dan, 11, from St. Joseph’s, said: “The day was amazing and it was an honour to meet the girls. They inspired me so much and I hope one day to be like them.

“I am looking forward to the Cup Final because the girls have great skill and put lots of effort into every move, pass and dribble.”

St Bernadette’s headteacher David O’Farrell said: “I love the opportunity to work with Wembley and it provides tremendous learning facilities for my children in the school.

“It is always lovely to share the children's awe and wonder as they enter the building and when they see the pitch and it's surrounds for the first time.

“Wembley is such a major part of our local community and I am proud that St Bernadette's are part of the experience that it provides.”
