Jerome Sinclair's goal was not enough for Liverpool against Birmingham

Kieran Dunbar scored the winning goal in extra-time as Birmingham City's knocked Liverpool's out of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-2 victory.

The two sides played out a pulsating tie, which was forced to go to extra-time after they remained deadlock at 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Liverpool had taken the lead in the 31st minute of the Fifth Round tie when Jerome Sinclair rolled Wes Harding before firing home.

However the visitors' lead lasted just 13 minutes as Birmingham hit back through George O'Neil shortly before the interval.

Buoyed by their equaliser the Blues pushed on after the break and took the lead on 50 minutes when Sam Deadfield found the net.

This time O'Neil turned provider, finding the ball inside the area and playing in Dreadfield who slotted the ball in from 12 yards out.

That goal looked as though it had booked Birmingham's place in the Quarter-Final, but Liverpool equalised with 13 minutes remaining courtesy of Ovie Ejaria's powerful finish.

Extra-time followed but Birmingham managed to take the lead for a second and decisive time after 103 minutes of action, with Dunbar tapping home Khaellem Bailey's parried effort.

The Quarter-Finals must be played before 21 February

Elsewhere, Manchester City also booked their place in the last eight as they overcame Stoke City at the Academy Stadium.

City had swept past Coventry 8-2 in the Fourth Round, but were involved in a much tighter affair as they pipped the Potters by a single goal.

Bersant Celina proved to be the hero on the night, with the 18-year-old scoring the game's only goal during the first-half.

Denzeil Boadu expertly fed the Kosovan through on goal, who proceeded to skip past the goalkeeper with some nibble footwork before tucking the ball home.

City put in a dominant display throughout the 90 minutes and had it not been for some fine defending Jason Wilcox's side could have won by more.

Manchester City will now welcome either Arsenal or Crewe Alexandra in the next round, while Birmingham face a trip to either Southampton or Leicester.
