The FA has appointed Nick Humby as interim chief operating officer.

Humby, who has previously worked with FA Chairman Greg Dyke at Pearson Television and the Ambassador Theatre Group, carried out a similar role at the Lawn Tennis Association in 2013-14.

He will work alongside the chairman and The FA’s senior management team while The FA recruits a new chief executive to replace Alex Horne.

During this time, Dyke will also take on the role of The FA’s acting executive chairman before reverting to non-executive chairman once the new CEO is settled in.

The chairman said: “Nick has had wide-ranging experience in roles across sport and the media, including five years as group finance director at Manchester United.

“We are making good progress in recruiting a new CEO but these processes inevitably take time so I was pleased that Nick was available to work with me and the senior management team.”
