England Under-21s striker Danny Ings has been tipped to keep on making a big impression on the Premier League.

The Burnley star scored his sixth goal of the season on Saturday to fire Sean Dyche’s side to a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Turf Moor.

And Rangers’ own top-scorer Charlie Austin, a former strike partner of Ings during his spell with Burnley, believes there is more room for development in the case of Ings.

Danny Ings has scored six goals so far this season for Burnley

"I’m happy for Ingsy. We’re good friends. Who knows what’s going to happen with him in the next six months," said Austin, who scored his 13th goal of the season in the same game but couldn’t prevent Harry Redknapp’s side from a tenth successive away defeat.

"In the Premier League he’s kind of suited to it. He’s 22, so he’s only going to get better.

"He has a bright future ahead of him, definitely."

Austin spent two and half seasons with Burnley between 2011 and 2013, before moving south to Loftus Road in a big-money switch on the eve of last season.

And he recalls the character shown by Ings in his early days with the Lancashire club, when he suffered two serious knee injuries following his initial move from AFC Bournemouth.

Ings bounced back and following Austin’s departure, he scored 21 goals last season to help fire the Clarets to promotion from the Championship, form which saw him called into Gareth Southgate’s Under-21s squad.

"He got injured twice when he came here, which was terrible, and it took time to get into his stride," added Austin.

"But last year was not really the best of Dan, to be honest. He was very good, but we all knew that."

With Austin now finding himself as third highest scorer in the top flight, it has been a good season so far for the former Swindon Town and Poole Town player.

And with Ings, Harry Kane and Saido Berahino all amongst the goals, there is no shortage of emerging English sharp-shooters on the scene.

"I’ve got work to do, I just try and work as hard as I can," admitted Austin, when questioned of any potential international recognition.

"There are a lot of players out there, so I can’t look that far ahead.

"I’m in the Premier League, trying to score as many goals as I can."
