In partnership with BBC Get Inspired, the aim is eclipse the 30,000 players who competed in the inaugural People’s Cup earlier this year.

And one of the big reasons that The FA and BBC Get Inspired came together to create the nationwide 5-a-side tournament, which runs alongside The Emirates FA Cup, is to boost participation among new and lapsed players.

So if you fancy a stab at People’s Cup glory, tell your friends and get them involved – including the ones that regularly find themselves stuck to the sofa!

It is anticipated that the People’s Cup 2016 will see a rise in the number of girls and women’s teams - with expanded walking and pan-disability competitions as well.

The FA People

The FA People's Cup proved successful in 2015 and the aim is to better that in 2016

And ahead of the First Round, which takes place on 22-24 January, there will be a series of squad-building events taking place around the country which will enable individuals without existing teams to sign up, meet potential team-mates ahead of the games and talk tactics.

In total, there are ten categories in the competition: Adult Male, Adult Female, U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U14 Boys, U14 Girls, Male Veterans, Female Veterans, Walking Football (Over 50s & mixed) and Disability.
