AFC Bournemouth's former England U21s striker Callum Wilson scores against West Ham United.

Former England Under-21 international Callum Wilson got his first Premier League goals in style, as his hat-trick helped AFC Bournemouth collect a thrilling 4-3 win at West Ham United.

Wilson, who was capped against France last November but was ruled out of this summer’s Euro Finals though injury, netted two first-half goals to put Eddie Howe’s side on track for their first top-flight win.

But the Hammers hit back with two quickfire goals from another former U21 star Mark Noble and Chiekhou Kouyate after the break to level things up, before Marc Pugh scored on 66 minutes to put them 3-2 up.

Wilson completed his treble from the spot, after another former U21 star Carl Jenkinson was sent off for committing the foul, but the the hosts made it an interesting few minutes at the Boleyn Ground after Modibo Maiga scored.

Elsewhere, England U19s midfielder Dele Alli, who last season impressed for MK Dons, scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

And Three Lions keeper Jack Butland was in impressive form again for Stoke City, making a string of saves as the Potters took a point against Norwich City with a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

In the north east, Jermain Defoe was on the mark as he scored a crucial leveller for Sunderland at home to Swansea in a game which also finished 1-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Meanwhile, former England manager Steve McClaren enjoyed a dream return to Old Trafford as his Newcastle side frustrated Manchester United and ended the Reds’ 100 per cent winning start to the new Premier League season.

England captain Wayne Rooney had a goal ruled out for offside while fellow international Chris Smalling headed against the Newcastle post in the closing moments as the home side were held 0-0.

In the Championship, England striker Charlie Austin did the business for Queens Park Rangers as Chris Ramsey’s men picked up a 4-2 win against Rotherham United at Loftus Road.

Austin, who was called up for the international fixtures against Ireland and Slovenia in the summer by Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson, has been the subject of much transfer speculation this month and his fourth goal in three games will have done little to dampen the talk.

In the same game, former England U19s captain Tom Thorpe scored his first professional goal to make it 3-2, but it wasn’t enough for Steve Evans’ side.

There was also a goal for former U21s defender Michael Keane, who headed Burnley’s winner against Brentford at Turf Moor to get Sean Dyche’s side up and running with their first victory of the campaign.

And U21s striker Cauley Woodrow scored a late equaliser for Fulham at Craven Cottage, where they were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town.
