The Emirates FA Cup round-up

Guisborough Town required a last-gasp winner from Steven Snaith to progress as the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup continued on Wednesday.

After the two teams had drawn the original tie 4-4, Snaith scored in the 88th minute to break Sunderland RCA hearts in a cracker of a replay.

Danny Earl had put Guisborough in front after 12 minutes but Sunderland roared back into the tie on 49 and 59 minutes as Callum Hope and Adam Drysdale scored for the visitors.

With Guisborough starring at elimination, Curtis Round handed them a lifeline as he levelled on 63 minutes, before Snaith did the damage late on scoring the winning goal two minutes from time to make it 3-2.

Maltby Main did it the hard way against Ashton Athletic as they were forced to battle back from two goals down to seal their progression in the competition.

Callum Mahoney had put Ashton two goals up, scoring either side of the break for the visitors, but Nicky Darker pulled a goal back on 52 minutes for Maltby Main.

Brian Cufworth proved the hero of the hour for the home side as he scored twice in the final 14 minutes as Maltby Main won 3-2 – pulling off the unlikeliest of late comebacks.

Meanwhile, Bishop Auckland made light work of Shildon as they ran out 4-2 winners, while former England cricketer Steve Harmison's Ashington AFC won 3-2 away at Albion Sports and Fakenham Town hammered Huntingdon Town 6-0.
