Watford may be struggling for wins this season but Stacie Donnelly has targeted Wednesday’s FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup clash against Millwall Lionesses as a chance to bag a precious three points.

The Hornets have struggled to come to terms with a season of transition, not to mention a lengthy injury list that has kept out the likes of captain Megan Wynne – who returned on Sunday after four months out – for much of the season.

They currently sit bottom of the WSL 2 table having won just once in 13 games, while their opening Continental Tyres Cup fixture ended in a 3-0 defeat against Arsenal.

Yet Donnelly insists all is not lost just yet, with a London derby against Millwall at Berkhamsted the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.

“We definitely see that as a 100 per cent winnable game,” said midfielder Donnelly. “We played them just before the mid-season break and it was a tight game.

“We went down to 10 players at the end which let us down a little bit and we ended up losing 3-2, but we'll go at them and if we can produce a performance like we know we can, then we can definitely get the three points.

“We can't let anything slip with Millwall because they are a decent team so we'll just have to stay concentrated.”

Millwall have also found wins hard to come by this season but they have already got off the mark in the Continental Tyres Cup with a thrilling 5-3 triumph over London Bees.

The Bees had actually led 3-2 at half-time but the Lionesses roared back in the second half and midfielder Lily Agg has called for a 90-minute performance this time round.

“Against London Bees we were really poor in the first half, Dan [Mlinar, the manager] told us a few home truths as the commitment and desire was lacking,” said Agg, who missed the 3-1 Continental Tyres Cup defeat to Reading through injury.

“We really upped it in the second half and scored a few goals, and we need to take that forward to the Watford game.

“They haven't been doing as well as they were last year, they've lost a few key players, and we need to show that we've kicked on.”
