Histon can use previous success in The FA Cup to inspire their current team to further progress in the prestigious competition, believes manager Brian Page.

In the 2008-09 season, the Cambridgeshire club knocked out Football League sides such as Swindon Town and Leeds United to progress to the Third Round Proper.

And Page thinks those memories can be used as an incentive before his side host Evesham United in the Second Round Qualifying.

"Those results were before my time and we have no players from that time still at the club but we will use that as an incentive to progress," he said.

"We can draw on it and look to recreate history."

But despite Histon, of the Southern Football League Premier Division, being in a higher league, Page is still wary about the threat which Evesham pose.

He added: "They have already knocked out Redditch, who are at the same level as we are.

"We have watched them and they are a good side, being solid at the back and also posing a good attacking threat.

"We are certainly aware of the threat and we will have to be at our best if we want to progress into the next round."

Evesham, from Worcestershire, currently lie in 13th place in the Southern League Division One South & West, and reached the First Round Proper of The FA Cup for the first time in the 2008–09 season.

That came just four years after they entered the Southern League Premier Division for the first time in their history, although they were relegated after just one season.
