Over 2000 tickets have already been sold for The FA Cup encounter and City have been raising awareness of the fixture with the distribution of over 10,000 leaflets across Essex.

Speaking exclusively to TheFA.com, Smith said: "There's been lots of interest in the match, with the team hitting good form on the pitch. A lot of work has gone into selling tickets and there's a real buzz and excitement about the club.

"We reached The FA Cup Second Round Proper two years ago when we beat Colchester United at home and we know how important this competition is, and the history behind it."

Smith is under no illusions that the visit of Barnet will provide a big challenge for his club but is confident everyone is ready for the match.

He added: "It will be a real test for us against a top quality side who are going for a place in the Football League, and stand a real chance with an eight-point lead already.

"Our management team watched their 3-0 home win over Braintree Town on Tuesday night and we know they are a strong team and will come into the game very confident.

"But we have a fit squad and all the players and our manager, Mark Hawkes, are chomping at the bit to go one step further in the competition."
