Folkestone Invicta manager Neil Cugley insists another defeat to local rivals Ramsgate in the FA Trophy on Saturday will be difficult to take for the supporters.

Invicta suffered a 2-0 league defeat to the Rams earlier in the campaign and were knocked out of the Ryman League Cup last Tuesday on penalties by the same opposition.

And Cugley said: "It goes without saying that the supporters will be totally gutted if we lose to them again on Saturday.

"We didn't perform well in the league defeat, but I felt we were unlucky to be knocked out of the cup last week.

"We've made a good, strong start domestically and we want to transfer that momentum into the cup competitions."

Cugley, who recently celebrated 1,000 matches in charge of the Ryman Division One South side, is set to welcome back suspended duo Josh Vincent and captain Liam Friend to the starting line up.

"To be honest the league cup was low priority," he continued. "Unusually for us we had two out through suspensions, but they're both clear now so it will be a huge bonus to have them back in the side."

Folkestone were knocked out of the competition at the second qualifying round stage last season, following a penalty shootout defeat by Hungerford Town.

However, Cugley has reiterated the importance of the competition from his side's perspective and is keen to progress further this campaign.

"As you can probably tell, penalties have never been a strong point of ours, losing to Hungerford last season was difficult to take," he added.

"We want to better last season's efforts in the competition and of the two cup games we've had against Ramsgate, this one certainly takes more priority as far as we're concerned."
