Whitehawk down as Claret army surge on in The FA Cup

There were two FA Cup replays on Monday night
Chelmsford City booked a home tie with Conference table-toppers Barnet as they defeated Whitehawk 4-1 in their FA Cup replay on Monday.

After a 4-4 draw on Saturday, goals were in abundance again with three flying in during the first half.

Joe Ward and a Christian Smith penalty, for which former England U20 man Osei Sankofa was shown a straight red, ensured the hosts took the early ascendency.

Monday's FA Cup results

Chelmsford City FC 4-1 Whitehawk FC
Boreham Wood FC 1-0 Frome Town FC

Their momentum was briefly disrupted by a goal from Danny Mills, but the second-half was a more comfortable affair as they marched into The FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying.

A thunderous strike from Lee Sawyer – his first for the club – and a cracking free-kick from Ward for his second of the night saw the Clarets run out victors at Melbourne Park.

In the evening's other replay, Boreham Wood also advanced into the next round with a 1-0 win over Frome Town.

The only goal came with 25 minutes on the clock - Sam Cox broke up play to set up Lee Angol, who finished at the second attempt.

Angol skipped past a challenge playing a one-two with Graeme Montgomery before seeing his shot blocked.

The visitors failed to clear and the goal mouth scramble was won by Angol who took his second chance well, finding space to shoot low into the net.

The win secures a trip to Woking a week on Saturday.

There are seven more FA Cup Third Round Qualifying fixtures on Tuesday night.
