Carl Jenkinson withdraws from England Under-21s squad

Jenkinson reported to St. George's Park with a hamstring complaint
Carl Jenkinson has withdrawn from the England Under-21s squad to face Croatia this week, following assessment on a hamstring injury.

The West Ham United right-back, currently on loan from Arsenal, featured for the Hammers in their win over QPR on Sunday.

But since reporting to St. George’s Park, he has been unable to join Gareth Southgate’s squad for training and would be unavailable for Friday’s first leg at Molineux.

"Jenks has had to go home, as he hasn’t trained with us all week after feeling his hamstring after the game on Sunday," revealed Southgate.

"We haven’t made sufficient progress with that, so to be fair to him and the club it’s better that he goes back and they will be able to pick it up.

"We have Michael [Keane] and Eric [Dier], so we’re pretty well covered."
