The presence of Wayne Rooney's cousin Anthony in the Oyster Martyrs side could not prevent a repeat of last season's Sunday Cup final as the Liverpool side were again defeated by Humbledon Plains Farm.

Oyster, the 2013 tournament winners, were defeated 5-2 in the Ewood Park Final in April when Mark Davison hit a hat-trick.

And there was to be no revenge for Rooney and his Liverpool-based team-mates as they went down 4-2 despite home advantage.

The Wearside outfit will now be favourites to retain their trophy, but they will face stiff competition from clubs such as 2012 winners Hetton Lyons Cricket Club

The north-east side went to Cumbria to take record an impressive 3-1 win over Cleator Moor.

The biggest scoring match of the day was a 10-goal thriller in Hartlepool as visitors Sportsmans FC won 6-4 at Hartlepool Lion Hillcarter.

Black Bull scored twice in extra time to win 5-3 at Custys.

Other impressive away wins included Chapeltown Fforde Grene, who triumphed 5-1 at Mayfair, as did Attenborough Cavaliers on their travels to Star & Garter FC.

The FA Sunday Cup resumes on 15 December for the Third Round.
