England U20s head coach Aidy Boothroyd has promised to continue the tradition of entertaining football at Goldsands Stadium against Canada on Wednesday night.

Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth side have turned on the style in the Championship this term, sitting second behind Derby County.

But Boothroyd’s boys have a similarly impressive record – fresh from three wins and one draw this season – and the former Coventry City and Watford boss wants to maintain that momentum.

“I was delighted with the performances and results from our last four games,” he said.

“Winning last month’s Four Nations Tournament in the Netherlands – where we beat strong sides from the hosts, Germany and drew with Turkey - was a credit to the players and the organisation of the staff.

“It’s down to us to maintain that momentum for the matches against Canada, and away to Portugal next Tuesday.”

Baily Cargill of AFC Bournemouth prepares to join the England U20s squad.

Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill could make his debut

Boothroyd says fans at Bournemouth’s home ground on Wednesday night could be in for a treat.

Cherries defender Baily Cargill looks set to be given his international debut – while the Young Lions have no shortage of players to get the crowd on its feet.

“Winning and entertaining is something Bournemouth fans will be used to under Eddie Howe’s guidance at the Goldsands Stadium – and our aim is no different,” he said.

“We want to produce winning England teams playing in a way that entertains our supporters, and we are delighted to be playing at Bournemouth tonight.“
