Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain nets against Anderlecht while Jordon Ibe and Pat Bamford both bag in Championship victories

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was on target for Arsenal as they saw a three-goal lead disappear against Anderlecht at the Emirates.

The England winger looked to have secured all three points early in the second half when he put the Gunners 3-0 up in their Champions League meeting with the Belgian outfit.

Mikel Arteta's penalty, after Three Lions striker Danny Welbeck was fouled in the box, and Alexis Sanchez's brilliant volley had put the hosts firmly in the driving seat at half-time.

Jordon Ibe

However, shortly after Chamberlain drove down the left and applied an emphatic finish into the far corner, Anthony Vanden Borre gave the visitors hope.

Just after the hour, the former Portsmouth defender netted a close-range header and then added another from the penalty spot to make it 3-2.

Anderlecht poured forward in the last ten minutes and finally got the equaliser as substitute Aleksandar Mitrovic headed home in the 90th minute.

Three Lions defenders Kieran Gibbs and Calum Chambers also played the full 90 minutes for Arsenal.

England's other Champions League contenders on Tuesday night, Liverpool, came close in Madrid but eventually lost 1-0 to the holders.

A much-changed Reds side, with Adam Lallana in the starting line-up and Glen Johnson, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling on the bench, went a goal down when Karim Benzema turned in Marcelo's low cross on 27 minutes.

Patrick Bamford

Lallana was close to levelling in the second half, firing just wide of Iker Casillas's post, before Sterling and former England skipper Steven Gerrard came on.

But the visitors couldn't find a way through as Real sealed another victory.

Meanwhile, in the Championship, England U20s forward Jordon Ibe, who is currently on loan at Derby County from Liverpool, put the Rams in front against Huddersfield Town with seven minutes played at Pride Park.

The goal helped the side managed by ex-England boss Steve McClaren clinch a 3-2 win to move up to fourth in the table.

Under-21s striker Patrick Bamford bagged for Middlesbrough slightly earlier in their game. The Chelsea loanee put Boro in front after five minutes as they saw off Norwich City with a 4-0 victory at the Riverside.

Gary Gardner - another young England player who last featured for the Under-21s two years ago - also got on the score sheet hitting the only goal in Brighton's 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, his first since joining the club on loan from Aston Villa.
