Premier League and Women's Cup round-up - 2 November

Blackburn Rovers beat Stoke City by 4-1 on Sunday

A round-up of all the regional action in The FA Women's Premier League from Sunday 2 November 2014.

Northern Division – The top three clubs all delivered a win, with leaders Coventry City gaining a narrow 1-0 away win at Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Ladies winning at home to fourth-placed Bradford City 3-2 and Blackburn Rovers getting the better of Stoke City at home and a 4-1 score line. Otherwise, Huddersfield drew 1-1 at home to Sporting Albion, whilst at the bottom Wolves lost 6-2 away to Preston and Newcastle improved their goal difference with a 4-0 home win against Derby.

Southern Division – The wet weather and water-logged pitches meant the postponement of games for first and third placed Cardiff City against QPR and Portsmouth's match with West Ham, allowing Brighton & Hove to draw level with both on 22 points after a 5-1 home win over Charlton. Tottenham pulled clear of mid-table with a 4-2 away win at Gillingham and Plymouth won 3-1 at home against Copsewood. Lewes push into mid-table with confident 6-0 away win at bottom club Keynsham. 

Clubs from The FA WPL Division 1 were also in action as they joined The FA Women’s Cup rather than league fixtures.

Northern Division 1 – Middleborough lost out 6-2 away to Blackpool Wren, Chorley crushed Tynedale 10-1 at home and Norton & Stockton won 6-2 away at Curzon. Chester le Street lost away at Hull City 4-1, whilst Leeds took a 2-0 home win against Tranmere as Mossley won narrowly by 4-3 at Steel City. Stockport County beat Accrington by 4-0 and Guiseley AFC Vixens had a walkover in their home tie against Peterlee.      

Midlands Division 1 – Leicester City LFC needed extra time to get past Burton Park 1-0, Loughborough Students got the edge over Crewe 5-3 away and FC Reedswood beat Burton Albion 4-0 at home. Leicester City WFC crushed Crusaders 7-0 at home, Mansfield Town achieved a narrow 2-1 home win against Bilbrook whilst Radcliffe Olympic saw off Ellistown 5-0 at home. Rotherham had an emphatic 8-0 home win against Sheffield Wednesday, Leafield Athletic lost away at the New Saints 2-0 and the final game between Mansfield and Solihull was postponed.         

South East Division 1 – MK Dons won away 2-1 at Bar Hill and C&K Basildon beat Barking 3-1 at home. Crystal Palace beat AFC Wimbledon 3-1 at home but Carshalton needed penalties to beat Enfield Town after a full time score of 3-3. In their local derby, Ipswich overcame Colchester 2-1 at home, Luton beat Leighton 6-1 away and Denham overcame London Corinthians 4-0 away. Another local derby saw Eastern Region Lowestoft beat FAWPL side Norwich 5-1 away.      

South West Division 1 – Cheltenham edged their game at home to St Nicholas 2-1, Gosport lost away to Eastbourne 5-0 and Larkhall beat Bridgewater Town at home 5-0. Shanklin lost 3-0 away to Maidenhead, Exeter City had a 5-3 away win at Parley Sports and Southampton Saints beat Swindon Spitfires 2-0 at home. The final game between Forrest Green Rovers and Oxford City was postponed.
