Rotherham secured promotion to the Championship after winning the League One play-off Final after a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Wembley.

The game finished 2-2 after extra-time, with Alex Revell scoring twice – the second being an absolute stunner – after Orient had raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Moses Odubajo and Dean Cox.

Goalkeeper Adam Collin was the hero for Rotherham, saving penalties from Mathieu Baudry and Chris Dagnall to send his side back to the second tier after an eight-year absence.

The game had started slowly, but exploded into life when Odubajo took control of the ball after a free-kick was half-cleared.

There seemed little on but the youngster chested the ball down before unleashing a brilliant volley that flew past the outstretched hand of Collin in the Rotherham goal.

Within five minutes the Orient fans were in dreamland as Cox doubled their lead. Again Oubajo was at the heart of it, swinging in a dangerous low cross that found Cox unmarked at the far post – and the winger finished comfortably.

At half-time it seemed that Orient were well in control, but then their former striker took the game by the scruff of the neck.

His first was a scruffy effort, poking home after Orient keeper Jamie Jones failed to collect a free-kick, but his second was special.

As with Odubajo's strike, it came out of the blue – but this was an even better goal, a vicious, dipping volley from fully 35 yards that flew over Jones an into the net.

The Rotherham celebrations were wild, but the closest either side got during the remainder of the 90 minutes was when Kieran Agard sliced wildly wide when well placed.

Rotherham were in control now, though, and came so close to taking the lead when Scott Cuthbert almost headed into his own net, with only a brilliant reaction save by Jones ensuring the scores remained level.

Dave Mooney almost put Orient ahead with a cheeky chip that went just over the bar, but as players on both sides tired it seemed penalties were almost inevitable.

And with neither unable to make a breakthrough it went to the lottery of the shootout.

Goalkeeper Collin was the hero, saving twice, with the second save decisive he was duly mobbed by the entire squad - delirious and Championship bound.
