England meet Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday

England’s Women gathered at St. George’s Park on Sunday evening ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine – and FATV followed four of them on their journey.

Straight after their Continental Cup win over Everton at Etihad Stadium, Manchester City duo Steph Houghton and Jill Scott jumped in a car with Toffees pair Rachel Brown-Finnis and Alex Greenwood to travel down to the national football centre.

England captain Houghton said: “When we’re meeting up on a Sunday, to try and get there as quick as we can we [go] with the other team members. You have to put it to one side that you play for different clubs and when you get in the car you’re on England duty then.”

Mark Sampson’s side have won all five qualifiers to date, but, ranked 24th in the world, on paper Ukraine are the biggest threat to England’s qualification hopes.

And on Thursday’s match itself, Scott added: “It will be a tough game but it’s always better to play in the tougher games. Hopefully it will bring the best out of us.”

Tickets for the Ukraine qualifier are still on sale, priced £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions. Visit the Shrewsbury Town website or call 01743 273 943 to purchase.
