England are up to eighth in the FIFA rankings

England Women have climbed three places in the FIFA rankings after their strong performance in the Cyprus Cup.

Mark Sampson’s side are now in eighth spot after finishing runners-up to France in the annual friendly tournament earlier this month.

The Three Lions won all three group games in Cyprus – against ItalyFinland and Olympic bronze medallists Canada.

USA have retained top spot, despite their disappointing showing in the Algarve Cup, to make it six years at No1. Perennial European champions Germany stay second.

Next up for England is a World Cup qualifier against Montenegro at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium on Saturday 5 April.

Tickets are still on sale, priced £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions. A family ticket is available at £10 (two adults, two children).
