Barkley celebrates his opener against Newcastle United

Ross Barkley continued his recent run of good form with another goal on Tuesday night, by scoring Everton's opener in their 3-0 win over Newcastle United.

The England midfielder netted a stunning solo goal in the 22nd minute at St. James' Park, just days after scoring his side's winner against Swansea City at the weekend.

And that strike from Barkley, 20, gave Roberto Martinez's men the impetus to add more goals through Romelu Lukaku and England-capped Leon Osman to complete an impressive victory.

Fellow Three Lion Leighton Baines and England Under-21s defender John Stones both featured for the Blues too, as Everton kept a clean sheet to strengthen their bid for a place in the Premier League's top four.

At Old Trafford, England goalkeeper Joe Hart kept a clean sheet as Manchester City completed a comprehensive 3-0 victory over fierce rivals Manchester United, whose line-up included Three Lions Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones and Danny Welbeck.

There were also a number of Young Lions in action in the Championship, with Under-21s striker Patrick Bamford scoring an early goal for Derby County in their game at Ipswich Town.

However, the Chelsea loanee's first-minute strike wasn't enough to prevent Steve McClaren's promotion chasers from slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Portman Road.

England U19s winger Jordon Ibe was also on the mark, as he opened the scoring for Birmingham City in  their 3-2 win over Millwall at the Den.

Ibe is currently on loan at St. Andrews from Liverpool and scored in the 18th minute in south London, ironically close to where the former Wycombe Wanderers player grew up.

Across the capital, Under-21s midfield pair Ravel Morrison and Tom Carroll both started for Queens Park Rangers as they beat Wigan Athletic at Loftus Road.

Elsewhere, former U19s midfielder Joe Ralls was also among the goals, scoring for Yeovil Town in their 1-1 draw with table toppers Leicester City.

Ralls, who was capped by England back in 2012, is currently on loan at Huish Park from Cardiff City.
