Chelsea celebrates Eden Hazard's strike

Chelsea hit Arsenal for six at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime as four of Roy Hodgson's England squad were involved in the the top-of-the-table Premier League clash - but only one was left smiling.

It was a landmark occasion for the visiting boss Arsene Wenger, taking charge of his 1,000th match with the club, and he selected internationals Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in his line-up.

The duo could not have asked for a worse start as the game exploded into life and they found themselves two goals down inside seven minutes.

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o opened the scoring on five minutes with a delightful curling strike before seconds later Andre Schurrle doubled their advantage.

The hosts were running riot, and things went from bad to worse for Wenger's men on 17 minutes. An Eden Hazard shot was handled by the outstretched Oxlade-Chamberlain inside the area, and a penalty was duly awarded, but Gibbs was the man mistakenly given his marching orders by the referee. Hazard stepped-up to convert the spot-kick to make it three.

And Chelsea, with England defender Gary Cahill marshalling their defence, continued their ruthlessness until the break - and they were rewarded with a fourth goal from Oscar.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was replaced at the break as another English man entered the fray - Carl Jenkinson tasked with shoring up the depleted Gunners back line but he was powerless to stop the further second-half onslaught. Oscar grabbed his second and the Blues fifth before he was replaced by Mohamed Salah - who duly grabbed the sixth.

Frank Lampard was an unused substitute as he no doubt revelled at his team-mates work.
