Joe Hart says England are determined to defeat Costa Rica
Joe Hart says England’s exit from the World Cup has been the lowest point of his career and believes the squad owe it to the fans to beat Costa Rica on Tuesday.

The Manchester City goalkeeper joined Wayne Rooney in speaking to the media in Rio on Saturday, and admitted that he has been left “gutted” following the Three Lions early elimination.

Hart said: “It is a strange empty feeling. I've put everything into this tournament. But it is cruel, it is really gutting for me.

"We've got to stick together, believe in what we've done, pick ourselves up and be ready for Tuesday."

And despite it being somewhat of a dead-rubber, the 27-year-old says the squad are determined to end their stay in Brazil with a victory for the “amazing supporters”.

"We owe it to the amazing fans who have travelled to come and support us,” said Hart.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone that has been with us, for making the difficult journey out to Brazil.

"Their presence was felt at the games. We are well aware that people moved work times, made a lot of effort to stay up for us, kids staying up beyond time to watch us.”

Hart, speaking on behalf of the squad, added: "We would like to thank them for their support. It meant everything to us and obviously we can only apologise that we're not going to take this country any further in the tournament.

"But I think the message will always be that we left nothing out there on the field.

"We gave everything in this tournament and we've just not quite been up to it."
