England's travelling support were given another special treat on Wednesday when they came face to face with two members of Roy Hodgson's squad in Rio.

After a fans' question and answer session with manager Roy Hodgson in Miami, members of englandfans, the official supporters club, who had made the trip to Brazil were invited to meet James Milner and Phil Jagielka.

The duo were quizzed for nearly an hour in a hotel near their base in the city, and enjoyed the opportunity to spend time and thank those who had made the journey to the World Cup.

"They were all pretty good questions and it was good everyone saying where they were from," Milner told TheFA.com. "It shows we've got support all around the world, not just in England.

"It was good to spend time with the fans here, they've spent so much money to come out here and support us. Whenever I've played for England there's always been a strong following."

Everton defender Jagielka, who scored in the recent win over Peru, continued: "It was really enjoyable. When me and Milly got the opportunity to come here we jumped at it.

"We had a few laughs, a few giggles, which makes it brilliant and hopefully they had as good a time as we did.

"Coming out here, giving a bit of time back, hopefully they've enjoyed it and we can give them a few more special nights over the course of the next few weeks and everyone's going to be happy."

Milner and Jagielka joked with the fans as they talked about some of the competitions that go on inside the camp.

They were asked about the unity and spirit within the camp and said it's not just what goes on behind closed doors that matters, but also that the army of supporters cheering them on in the stands and back home are vital to them.

And with the World Cup opener in against Italy in Manaus just two days away, they want to give the nation something to cheer this summer.

"It's a massive part of playing football, you need the fans behind you and we've got some fantastic fans," said Jagielka.

"There's a great mix in the squad, there's no groups, everyone spends time with each other and every meal time everyone eats together," Manchester City man Milner revealed.

"That's massively important, especially going into the tournament, you're going to need that team spirit knowing your mate is going to run that extra mile for you. That's what we're going to need going forward and we're lucky to have that."

Jagielka added: "We're really excited, that first game is going to be really important - hopefully we can come back with at least a point, if not three, and get that ball rolling for a good campaign.

"We will always try our best and it makes a big difference when the fans are positive.
