Ian Lenagan has joined The FA board

Ian Lenagan – the Oxford United owner – has been nominated to the Football Association's board of directors.

The Wigan-born entrepreneur and theatre producer, who is also chairman of his hometown rugby league club and a shareholder in London Broncos, will in addition serve as one of eight Football League representatives on the FA council.

The FA's constitution allows the Football League to nominate two FA board directors, of which Lenagan is one.

He will use his skills, knowledge and experience of sport and business to serve the interests of the wider game.

Both appointments are for one year, but Lenagan is eligible to be re-elected at the end of the season.
