Magpies legend joins 2012 FA Vase winners Dunston

Pavel Srnicek has joined Dunston UTS
Dunston UTS, FA Vase winners in 2012, have added former Premier League and international goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek to their ranks for the forthcoming season.

However, the former Newcastle United and Czech Republic man will not be pulling on the number one jersey for the Northern League side. Instead he will be taking a place on the board at the UTS Stadium as was announced as the club’s first honorary vice-president.

Despite working back in his native country as goalkeeper coach for Sparta Prague, the ex-Magpies favourite is intending to watch UTS in action as much as possible – and could possibly be in attendance when the club’s FA Cup campaign kicks-off against Morpeth Town next month.

Steve Wraith, commercial director at Dunston said: “Pav loves the North East and of course Newcastle has a special place in his heart.

“Over the last few years he has been here he has spoken about wanting to link up with the local football scene and we saw this as a great opportunity for him and us.

“He has sent over a video message expressing his delight at being given the role at the club and sent his best wishes to Billy Irwin and the lads.”

Upon the announcement, Srnicek had the below video message for the club’s supporters.
