Rodgers says Lallana has all the attributes to succeed at Anfield
Adam Lallana is "one of the Premier League’s top talents," according to Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

The England midfielder has joined the Reds from Southampton for a reported fee of £25m and agreed a long term contract at Anfield, becoming the second Saints player to make the same move after Rickie Lambert switched last month.

And Rodgers believes the 26-year-old will prove to be a great addition to his squad for the new season as Liverpool look to improve on their second-placed finish of last campaign.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of one of the Premier League's top talents in signing Adam Lallana," revealed Rodgers.

"What is apparent about Adam is that his character is on a par with his talent.

"He is an exceptional young man and someone who has a love for the game - and, most importantly, a desire to progress and improve.

"Adam is motivated by being the best he can be and being part of something special. We believe he fits right in with what we are trying to do at Liverpool."

Lallana was one of the Premier League’s top players last season as he captained Southampton to eighth spot in the table and won a place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad.

He now faces the challenge of establishing himself in the team at Anfield, after spending the last 14 years with the Saints and representing them in three separate divisions.

And Rodgers says the former AFC Bournemouth youngster has what it takes to be a success with the Merseyside club.

"We have seen over the past two seasons he has a tactical awareness to adapt to what is required of him and to put the team above his personal ambitions," he told LiverpoolFC.com

"Adam is aware there will be great competition for places at this club and he is hungry to improve further. We are confident he will fit perfectly with the culture we have at Liverpool.

"He has leadership skills and personal qualities that make him a special commodity and I am delighted we have acted decisively to make sure he is wearing a Liverpool shirt next season.

"I'm excited about working with Adam and helping him to progress even further."
