U16s squad named for UEFA games at St. George's Park

England U16s meet up at St. George’s Park in early February for three games in a special UEFA development tournament.

The Young Lions will face opposition from Spain, Denmark and Belgium over the course of five days at the national football centre.

And U16s Head Coach Kenny Swain has selected a 20-man squad for the tournament in what will be the U16s’ first fixtures of 2014.

The England U16s line-up to face Scotland in November 2013.

The U16s will play Spain, Denmark and Belgium in February

 

Many of the players selected have already featured this season, either in the Victory Shield or the Nike Tournament out in Florida in December.

But there will be a few new faces for these games, with Liverpool midfielder Yan Dhanda and Manchester United forward Zachary Dearnley both receiving their first call-ups.

England’s first game will see them take on Spain on Sunday 9 February, before they play Denmark two days later. The final match is against Belgium on Friday 14 February.

After these games, the U16s will then turn their attentions to the Montaigu Tournament in France, which takes place in April.

The Squad

Goalkeepers: Ryan Sandford (Millwall), Aston Oxborough (Norwich City)*

Defenders: Darnell Johnson (Leicester City), Trent Arnold (Liverpool), Cameron Humphreys (Manchester City), Reece Oxford (West Ham United), Hayden Coulson (Middlesbrough), James Yates (Everton).

Midfielders: Tom Davies (Everton), Sadou Diallo (Manchester City), Callum Gribbin (Manchester United), William Patching (Manchester City), Yan Dhanda (Liverpool), Christopher Willock (Arsenal), Marcus Edwards (Tottenham Hotspur).

Forwards: Andre Green (Aston Villa), Jonathan Leko (West Bromwich Albion), Kaylen Hinds (Arsenal), Zachary Dearnley (Manchester United), Jahmal Hector-Ingram (West Ham United).

* Replaces Alfie Woodman (Tottenham Hotspur) who is withdrawn.

All games are played behind-closed-doors for invited guests only.
