Michael Laudrup led Swansea to their first-ever win at Old Trafford

Michael Laudrup was pleased with the confidence his Swansea side showed as they knocked ten-man Manchester United out of The FA Cup.

Wilfried Bony’s 90th-minute header gave the Welsh side their first-ever win at Old Trafford after Javier Hernandez had cancelled out Wayne Routledge’s opener.

United full-back Fabio was shown a red card late on for a high tackle on Jose Canas.

It was the Swans’ first win in eight games and they will face either Birmingham City, Bristol Rovers or Crawley Town in the Fourth Round.

Swansea boss Laudrup said of the historic win: "It’s something very special.

"For me it’s a game we’ve won, another game in which we’ve shown confidence. We just needed a win.

"Even with 11v11 it could have ended 1-1 and I would be sat here saying the same things – that I was very happy with the performance and that my players still played with a lot of confidence.

"I think that’s very important because sometimes when you see a team who has not won for six or seven games then can play without confidence, but I do not see that in my team today so I’m very happy.

"Apart from winning, this is the most important thing – the day I see something different is when I would be worried, but I do not see that."

The Dane congratulated Bony on his winning goal which was created after some good work by Routledge down the left.

He added: "It was a great goal. It was a great finish. I think though we had three or four other great chances. It was only really the first 15 minutes that we struggled, but after that I thought we were comfortable.

"These things are more for the fans I think. I’m not surprised that this is the first time Swansea have won here because this is only our third year in the Premier League.

"In my world Manchester United are still obviously a very big team so to win here is a very special thing."
