Jose Mourinho says winning the FA Cup seven years ago ranks among the highlights of his career.

The Chelsea manager returned to London in the summer of 2013, six years after leaving the Blues, and says the FA Cup forms a large part of his well documented love affair with the English game.

"The FA Cup has a special feeling, a special meaning.

"I was lucky to win lots of trophies but to win the FA Cup at Wembley - to go up there and to feel what it means was one of my high moments in my career so I have a very good feeling for the competition."

The Portuguese, who led Chelsea to the FA Cup in 2007 during his first spell in charge of the Blues, also recalled watching FA Cup finals with his father and speaking to his mentor Sir Bobby Robson about the magic of the tournament.

"As a kid in the time of black and white television, the English Cup Final is one of the few matches we were waiting for," Mourinho said.

"That Coventry one [in 1987] I remember because I was with them. I was always with the underdog."

"Then, working with Mr Robson, he always spoke about big things in English football and tradition of FA Cup which gave me that feeling.

"When I came here and played at Stamford Bridge against some smaller teams, who played from the first minute without any fear, trying to win, bringing 10,000 fans to support them.

"That's unique. Every match a big one. It's a great competition."

Mourinho's Chelsea meet Derby County at Pride Park in the Third Round on Sunday, with kick-off at 12.15pm.
