England in Pot 1 for Sunday's Euro 2016 qualifying draw

England will be in Pot 1 with current holders Spain

Roy Hodgson will briefly turn his attentions from the World Cup to the European Championship on Sunday when he heads to France for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying draw.

The England Manager has been in Brazil this week to run the rule over Manaus, host city for the Three Lions' World Cup opener with Italy on 14 June.

  • Pot 1: Spain (holders), Germany, Netherlands, Italy, England, Portugal, Greece, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Pot 2: Ukraine, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Ireland
  • Pot 3: Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Poland
  • Pot 4: Montenegro, Armenia, Scotland, Finland, Latvia, Wales, Bulgaria, Estonia, Belarus
  • Pot 5: Iceland, Northern Ireland, Albania, Lithuania, Moldova, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Cyprus
  • Pot 6: Luxembourg, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Faroe Islands, Malta, Andorra, San Marino, Gibraltar

While in South America he also attended a FIFA workshop along with all 32 head coaches who will be at the Finals this summer.

Then on Sunday Hodgson will be at the Palais des Congres Acropolis in Nice to find out who England will be lining up against on the Road to France.

England will be in Pot 1 for the draw, which will include a record 53 nations, as the nine qualifying groups are decided.

For the first time qualifying games will be played in a new Week of Football format, and during double-header matchweeks teams will play on Thursday/Sunday, Friday/Monday or Saturday/Tuesday.

The nine group winners, the nine group runners-up and the best third-placed side will qualify directly for the Finals, with the eight remaining third-placed teams facing play-offs to make up the 24-nation tournament.
