Chris McCann had given the Championship outfit an 18th-minute lead but Fraizer Campbell equalised for the hosts just nine minutes later, but up stepped Ben Watson.

Watson, the Latics hero from Wembley last May,  thumped home what turned out to be the winner five minutes before the break.

Rosler has so much belief in his side's capabilities that he wants to take on the best in the next round.

He said: "I want to compete against the best teams in the country and Cardiff today gave us the possibility, and we stood our own ground very well."

With regards to the winner from Watson - Rosler admitted: "I didn't see the second goal. I just turned around and the ball was in."

He added said: "We take it game by game. I felt very happy with the performance.

"I thought our supporters, they travelled in big numbers. We made them proud, we wanted to make them proud."
