Torquay United talked the talk before their trip up to Bishop's Stortford and then they walked the walk as the Conference Premier side scored a thumping 5-0 win in The FA Trophy First Round.

The Devon side had expressed their hopes of a good run and a possible return to Wembley in the build-up to this tie.

They last reached The Final in 2008 and have now targeted another tilt at The Trophy as they also look to bounce back from last season's relegation out of the Football League.

And they were far too strong for Bishop's Stortford, who play a tier below Torquay in the Conference South.

Former York City striker Ryan Bowman kicked-off the scoring in the fourth minute and doubled Torquay's lead five minutes before half time.

Skipper Luke Young then put the tie beyond doubt with a third goal nine minutes after the break.

Duane Ofori-Acheampong in the 85th minute, and Jordan Chapell's 90th minute effort completed the scoring.

They will be joined in the next round by clubs such as Dover Athletic, who continued their fine form with a 3-1 win at Lowestoft Town.

Dover also face Crystal Palace in the Third Round Proper of The FA Cup next month and are now in line for another challenge to get to Wembley.

Other impressive away wins included Stockport's 3-0 victory at Ramsbottom United and Oxford City who triumphed 3-0 at Wimbourne Town.

FC United of Manchester won 4-0 at home to Harrogate Town and the highest scoring match of the day ended with Hyde winning 4-2 against Spennymoor Town.

A total of 13 ties finished in a draw, so there will be plenty of replay action to enjoy before Christmas!

The ties between Worcester City and FC Halifax Town and Bradford Park Avenue and Kidderminster Harriers were both postponed.

The draw for the Second Round Proper will take place at Wembley Stadium on Monday morning.
