Matthew Doherty will serve a three-match suspension

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matthew Doherty will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect.

His claim of wrongful dismissal was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing.

Doherty was dismissed for serious foul play during the game against AFC Bournemouth on 6 December 2014.

Meanwhile, Doherty’s teammate Rajiv Van La Parra, who was dismissed for violent conduct during the same game, had his claim upheld resulting in his standard punishment being withdrawn.
