Chalobah returned to the Under-21s side with a substitute appearance against Portugal
Nathaniel Chalobah added to his international experiences in 2014 by forming a key part of the midfield in Gareth Southgate's England Under-21s team.

The Chelsea starlet had a busy year domestically, spending the first half of 2014 out on loan with Middlesbrough before joining Premier League new boys Burnley in August on a similar spell.

For the Three Lions, he began 2014 with an appearance in central defence in March when he came into the team as a late replacement for Michael Keane in the 1-0 victory over Wales at Derby County's iPro Stadium.

He reverted back to his favoured midfield role in the return fixture against the Welsh in May, playing in the 3-1 win at Swansea City's Liberty Stadium before Southgate's squad travelled to the Toulon Tournament as U20s after that.

And Chalobah began the new campaign in impressive form, playing an instrumental role in the 1-0 win over Lithuania in Kaunas in September as England closed in on qualification for next summer's Euro Finals.

Unfortunately, Chalobah picked up an injury whilst on duty for Burnley's U21s side which ruled him out of the play-off win against Croatia but he finished the year with a substitute appearance in the 3-1 victory over Portugal at Turf Moor and a starting berth against France in November.
