Glossop End United made a big impression at 1874 Northwich before the game even started, with fans making a real racket with a travelling orchestra of drums, cornets, bugles and trumpets.

It was always going to be a tricky afternoon for the fan-owned Northwich Victoria breakaway club when Lee Jones was given a straight red card in the early stages.

The visitors took full advantage with a brace from Keiran Lugsden and Eddie Moran’s strike giving them a comfortable 3-0 away win.

Heanor Town also won on the road, with Kieran Wells’ 25-yard strike setting them on their way at Deeping Rangers.

Joe Braithwaite drew the hosts level with ten minutes remaining, forcing extra time. But Gary Ricketts popped up with a header to send Heanor through after a nervy backs-to-the-wall finish.

And Tadcaster Albion were successful at St Helens Town, with goals from Josh Greening(2), Nick Thompson and Denny Ingram securing a 4-2 win.

Of course, not every away side emerged victorious, with Newport IOW having a ferry tough afternoon at Ascot United. The Yellamen were certainly at the races as they swotted the Islanders aside 3-0.

The Hellenic League side reached the quarter finals last season and look in good shape again this term, with Jermaine Roache, Leon Yarnie and Jesse Wilson all on the scoresheet.
