The FA Cup heads to Fairford Town as ties kick-off

The FA Cup will be at Fairford Town as the competition kicks-off on Saturday
The world famous FA Cup trophy will be at Fairford Town's Cinder Lane ground for The FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie against Knaphill this weekend.

Gloucestershire side Fairford kicked-off their Hellenic League Division One West campaign with a 5-4 win over Shortwood United last weekend, ahead of Saturday's FA Cup meeting with Surrey-based Knaphill, who are entering the competition for the first time.

And fans attending the game will have a fantastic opportunity to have their picture taken alongside one of the most famous pieces of silverware in world football.

"It is a huge day for the club," said committee member Chris Tanner. 

"Everyone at Fairford is looking forward to the game and to have The FA Cup coming to Town is quite special. 

"The FA Cup generates tremendous interest for clubs both in the professional game and non-League and Saturday will be no different. Perhaps some won't have realised The FA Cup starts in August! 

"I would urge fans to come along and enjoy the day as well as showing their support for both the cup competition and grass roots football."

Tickets are £5 per person, available on the day, and gates open at 12pm before the big kick-off at 3pm.
