Hannah Blundell says her England team-mates are ready to embrace the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup.

Mo Marley’s side will open their Group C campaign against South Korea on Wednesday.

The Young Lions were runners-up in last year’s U19 Euros, but this is their first taste of the world stage.

Blundell said: “We’re really enjoying ourselves over here.

“We’re all excited about the tournament and can’t wait to get playing now.

“We’re all a bit nervous – I think every player in every team would have a few nerves – but we’re just going to embrace it and do our best.

“We want to get out of the group first and foremost and then we’ll take it from there.”

After the South Korea match, England take on Mexico on Saturday and Nigeria next Wednesday.

But Blundell has refused to look beyond their encounter against the Asian champions.

The Chelsea defender said: “We know what to expect from South Korea and we know what our strengths are as well.

“We will just concentrate on our own game plan and work on breaking them down because they are a really good team.

“Hopefully we can get a good result to start us off on the right foot.”

Blundell continued: “The atmosphere at last year’s Euros was good but I don’t think it will be like anything we will experience over here.

“This World Cup is a big deal for people in Canada, I think it’s great.”

This is the fourth time England have featured at an U20 World Cup, after the appearances in 2002, 2008 and 2010.
