Liverpool and Chelsea's ladies all square in London

Chelsea held on to claim a draw with defending FA WSL1 champions Liverpool after being reduced to ten in the second half following Ji So-Yun’s dismissal.

So-Yun received her marching orders after the break for a second bookable offence but Liverpool had no time to find a winner as it ended goalless.

Liverpool started the brighter of the two and could have taken the lead early when Gemma Davison broke down the right and skipped past Hannah Blundell before seeing her shot cannon back off the post.

However, Chelsea responded well and So-Yun fired over from the edge of the box before Danielle Buet’s found Laura Coombs in the penalty area but her effort was too high.

But Liverpool maintained their early dominance and Chelsea’s next notable effort didn’t arrive until the end of the first half when So-Yun was denied from a free-kick.

Chelsea pressed for a winner in the second half and but Eniola Aluko squandered their best chance of the game after she fired wide late on after breaking through down the right channel.

Chelsea were denied a penalty moments later and, while the home crowd appealed, the referee judged that So-Yun had dived and showed her a second yellow card.
